Doydum

An AI calorie counter with a friend in it

Snap your meal. Doy does the counting.

Doydum is an AI calorie counter for iPhone. Take a photo of your plate and Doy estimates the calories, protein, carbs and fat. Then he plants it in his garden. Water, steps and weigh-ins live in the same little world.

01 · Snap

Take a photo. Doy reads the plate.

Doydum’s AI names what’s on your plate and estimates its calories, protein, carbs and fat in seconds. You check it before it’s saved.

  • Every item shows how sure the AI is.
  • Packaged food? Scan its barcode.
Example: Adana kebab. Doy photographs it and estimates about 790 kcal: protein 44 g, carbs 50 g, fat 46 g.

02 · Eat

Your meals, your rhythm.

Tell Doydum which meals you usually have and how many snacks. Reminders come at your own mealtimes, only if you want them, and logging again is one tap: recents, favourites, and a gallery of every plate you have photographed.

  • Search 168 everyday foods, Turkish and international, or add your own.
  • Copy any past meal to today.
  • No meal is “good” or “bad” here. It’s just noted.

03 · Drink

Doy fills up when you drink.

Doy’s body is your water meter: log a glass and you see it rise inside him. Your daily target starts from your weight, and gentle reminders can nudge you through the day. The home-screen widget adds a glass with one tap.

  • Quick 250, 500 or 750 ml, or any amount.
  • Target: 33 ml for each kg you weigh, at least 1.5 litres.
  • Reminders are scheduled on your phone, nowhere else.

04 · Move

Steps lay the road home.

Doydum reads your steps from your iPhone’s motion sensor when you open the app. Your daily target follows how active you are, and on Doy’s farm every thousand steps lays a stone on the path to the gate.

How active are you?

05 · Weigh in

Weigh in when you like. Doy watches the trend.

Add a weigh-in in kilos or pounds, even for a day that has passed. The chart shows the trend, not the noise of a single morning, and milestones mark the way to your goal. Doy never comments on your body.

  • Kilos or pounds, back-dated up to a year.
  • Reaching your goal moves the plan to keeping it.

06 · Ask Doy

Doy reads your week like a dietitian would.

On any chart, tap “Ask Doy”. He reads your days the way an experienced registered dietitian reads a food log: what went well, what’s missing, and one or two small things to try. Then you can chat with him about it, photos welcome.

Water · last 7 daysExample

Your water is solid on weekdays; Sunday is the gap.

  • On weekdays you averaged about 2.6 L, close to your 2.95 L target. Mon–Fri
  • Saturday and Sunday dipped, Sunday to about a third of your target. Sun
  1. Start Sunday with a glassOne glass with breakfast and one with lunch is already half a litre before the afternoon.

07 · Your plan

Lose, keep or gain. The plan fits you.

Answer a few questions (age, height, weight, how active you are, your goal) and Doydum works out a daily energy estimate with the Mifflin–St Jeor formula, plus protein, carbs and fat. It shows its working, and you can change it any time.

Your goal

08 · Your pace

Gentle, steady or quicker. Never a crash.

Choose how fast you want to change: 0.25, 0.5 or 0.75 kg a week. The plan adjusts your daily target and never goes below a sensible minimum. The flag is always a little further on; the road is what counts.

09 · The farm

Every meal grows Doy’s farm.

Log a meal and a row sprouts in today’s bed. Steps lay the stones to the gate. A day with meals, water and steps all done turns golden and plants a sunflower by the fence. Weeks become crates by the barn, and animals move in as you keep going: earned, never bought.

  • A streak that forgives: rain barrels fill as you log and cover a quiet day.
  • Seasons, nights with lit windows, Halloween and Christmas on the farm.
  • Doy’s house gets a rug, a sofa and lamps as your logged days add up.

10 · Yours

Your data stays yours.

No ads and no tracking. Reminders are scheduled on your phone. Export everything as a file, or delete your account from Settings: photos go first.

11 · Almost here

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Who is Doy?

Doy is your companion in the app: a small pixel character who lives in a house on a farm. He reacts to the food you log by name, fills up with water as you drink (his body is your water meter) and keeps you company through the day. Doy never shames, never comments on bodies and never scolds you for a missed day.

Learn more →
How accurate are the photo estimates?

They are estimates, not exact measurements. A photo can’t show hidden oil, the sugar in a sauce or how deep a bowl is, so portions are the hardest part. That’s why every item comes with a confidence level and stays editable: fix the grams or swap an item before you save. A short hint, a clear shot of the whole plate and good light all help.

Does Doydum know Turkish and international foods?

Yes. Besides photo and barcode scans, you can search a curated list of 168 everyday foods, Turkish and international: lentil soup, lahmacun, döner, mantı and simit sit next to boiled eggs, bananas and grilled chicken breast. Your recent foods, favourites and your own foods are there too, and a quantity dial lets you log grams or servings.

How is my daily calorie target calculated?

Doydum estimates your resting energy with the Mifflin–St Jeor equation from your age, sex, height and weight, then multiplies it by an activity factor from 1.2 to 1.9. To lose or gain, it subtracts or adds 275, 550 or 825 kcal a day for a weekly pace of 0.25, 0.5 or 0.75 kg. It never goes below 1,200 kcal (female formula) or 1,500 kcal (male formula). It’s an estimate, not a prescription.

What happens if I miss a day?

Your streak forgives. Any day with at least one meal counts. Every seven logged days fills a rain barrel (you can keep two), and a full barrel covers a day without a meal by itself, so the streak holds. Going away? Set an away stretch of up to 14 days and your streak waits for you. No red numbers, no guilt.

Learn more →
Is my data private?

Yes. Doydum has no ads and no tracking, and your data is never sold. Your entries are stored to run the app for you, and the AI provider only sees what a feature you asked for needs. From Settings you can export a copy of everything as a JSON file, or delete your account and all its data, at any time.

Learn more →
Where do my meal photos go?

When you scan, a compressed copy of the photo goes to our backend and to Google’s Gemini model (or, if Gemini can’t answer, to Anthropic’s Claude), only to estimate that meal. If you correct a meal in words later, your note goes the same way with the photo, and the note isn’t kept. If you save the meal, the photo stays with it so your meal gallery can show it; if you cancel or the scan fails, it’s deleted. Deleting a meal deletes its photo, and deleting your account erases all photos first.

Is Doydum available on Android?

Not at the moment. Doydum is built for iPhone, with features that rely on it, like Sign in with Apple, the iPhone’s motion sensor for steps and the home-screen widget. There’s no Android version yet, and we can’t promise a date. Meanwhile, the calculators and guides on this site work on any phone or computer.

How much does Doydum cost?

Doydum is a subscription app. Doydum Pro unlocks the whole app, with a monthly and a yearly plan. The App Store shows the price in your currency, and any trial if one is offered, before you pay. Payment goes through your Apple Account, and you can cancel anytime in your iPhone’s subscription settings, at least 24 hours before the period renews.

When can I get Doydum?

Soon. Doydum is coming to the App Store for iPhone, and we’re doing the last checks before release. We’d rather not promise a date we might miss. Until then, try the calorie, macro and water calculators on this site, which use the same maths as the app, and come and meet Doy.
